A good introduction

I purchased this book as a reference text so that I could learn in detail about brazing for making lugged steel bicycles.
I have a strong engineering/technical background, and this book covers a very large range of brazing techniques, but sadly only at an entry level - perhaps first year university or last year high school. It gets you pointed in the right direction for each subject, and helps with the basic principles, but it stops there.
I don't need to understand vacuum, induction or salt brazing, and I would have preferred more detail on techniques relating to torch brazing. If you are going to be involved in vacuum, inducton or salt dip brazing you are going to be working in advanced fields, and this book does not really give you enough information to be fully compentant in these areas.
That said, I have found it useful, and I now know much more about standards and alloys, but I would have liked to learn more about tip selection, flame dynamics and other things.
As a comparison, the standard of information provided is not on a par with the depth of information provided in the ARRL hand book for radio amateurs, or the Machinist's hand book.
However, it is the best text I have found to date on Brazing, and I specifically enjoyed the history section which provides a lot of insight to how brazing evolved and this provides insight into what you can achieve.
